  • Write guidance on medical apps development
  • Develop a consumer “trustmark” for medical apps, covering security, privacy, compliance with NHS APIs, as well as efficacy.

  • An emerging area that needs to be explored (e.g. for self-care) for which there is a huge potential impact in H&SC – DHACA has a opportunity to make an impact by navigating this new territory for all stakeholders.

4. Defining the digital platform for citizen engagement with the NHS

  • APIs, digital identity assurance, consent management, security, IG, … supporting the development of NHS Choices
  • Create an open industry forum for defining the use of / profiling existing technical standards for use in connected digital health and care. Creating a means by which we can do the rest.

  • Case studies or guidance on effectiveness to give people confidence or signpost.

  • Fits in with DHACA’s remit for waste-free invention, propagating good practice.
  • For professional education (skills framework) – what is needed at each level to demonstrate the difference that can be made?

Shortlisted Project Ideas

As discussed at the Operational Steering Group on 25th February

  1. Create an open industry forum for defining the use of / profiling existing technical standards for use in connected digital health and care. Creating a means by which we can do the rest.
  2. Define the digital platform for citizen engagement with the NHS – APIs, digital identity assurance, consent management, security, IG, … supporting the development of NHS Choices.
  3. Write guidance on medical apps development
  4. Develop a consumer “trustmark” for medical apps, covering security, privacy, compliance with NHS APIs, as well as efficacy – (guidance as above).
  5. Develop a method for rapid measurement of the efficacy of medical mHealth apps. Measure impact for digital transformation. Enable a market by demonstrating evidence.
  6. Develop a programme of education for the public and health care professionals about how apps or digital technology can assist in self care. Case studies or guidance on effectiveness to give people confidence or signpost. Are others doing this already? Not wanting to tread on any commercial toes.  Fits in with DHACA’s remit for waste-free invention, propagating good practice.  For professional education (skills framework) – what is needed at each level to demonstrate the difference that can be made?
  7. Wearables – An emerging area that needs to be mentioned (e.g. for self-care) for which there is a huge potential impact in H&SC – DHACA has a opportunity to make an impact by navigating this new territory for all stakeholders.
  8. Proposal around business models (re Manchester running NHS budget) – what does this do for business models.  What does this make possible from April 2016 – what have we learned from DHACA in terms of digital transformation to discuss with Manchester. – GD – engage HJ also.
  9. Testbeds – definition of what is meant by a testbed – how to measure impact. DHACA could support design of testbed structure.

Prioritisation

  • 3&4 combined project – Rob Turpin offered to put proposal together – Arrange call to discuss
  • 2 – Hilary Hall and Nigel Dallard (+RefArch SIG) would like to proceed – Arrange call to discuss
  • 7 – Paul Thomas and SelfCare SIG would like to define further (also discuss with Jennie Williams) – Then arrange call to discuss.
  • 9 – John Eaglesham – we are already looking at this – it may crystallise into something real may also include 5.
  • 6 – Hilary Hall would like to give more thought before defining a project
  • 1 – DHACA-wide, not a project
  • 8 – Graham De’Ath and Huw Jones to consider and then put a proposal together
