Preparing for 2021: DHACA’s next Wednesday Winter Webinar 11th November 10am

Next Wednesday 11th November at 10am we have a double-header – Julian Hitchcock will tell us about how medical device regulation is expected to change following the end of the UK/EU transition period on 31/12/21 and Vik Khurana (both speakers are from Bristows) will follow that up by telling us how procurement and data privacy might change in the new year, including advice to anyone who has been relying on the EU/US Privacy Shield and thus who is affected by the Schrems II judgement. As DHACA members of longstanding will know, Julian is probably the most knowledgeable lawyer on medical regulatory matters in the UK and, having recently spoken to Vik, I’m hugely impressed by his expertise too, so this is not to be missed…and it’s free!

The following week we are still finalising the speakers for a webinar on ICSs – Integrated Care Systems. A brief explanation of what they are, and why they are hugely relevant to members seeking to sell to the NHS is here. Book here.

Finally for those who plan ahead, do please note that the EMIS App Library webinar will be moving to Thursday, 26th November, not a Wednesday.

RSM Webinar 10th November 1pm

Next week’s RSM Digital Health webinar looks especially interesting as it is an area where digital health is rapidly gaining ground: Personalised medicine: Personalised services for cancer care.

DTAC

You may have spotted our previous item on the Digital Assessment Criteria for health and social care (DTAC), published by the NHS in beta form in October. It forms the new baseline assessment for the suitability of digital health technologies for use by the NHS, social care sector, or directly by citizens. The criteria and the related blog are here.

An offer to be the subject of a DHACA winter webinar has not yet drawn a response. However they are holding an open session for commissioners and others in the NHS and social care who would like to find out more, on Tuesday 17 November at 1pm to 2pm. Sign up to the session here.

Important: DHACA website changes

I do not have time sadly to keep all of our website up to date and currently DHACA’s income is insufficient to employ anyone else to, so we will shortly begin a process of great simplification, which will be followed by a website – and logo – renewal. This will include removal and archiving of all the dallas material and outdated resources, in particular. If anyone has a pressing need to continue accessing any part of the website that is not obviously being kept updated, please let me know as soon as possible.

…and finally:

  • Member Joao Bocas has started a weekly YouTube channel, with first guest John Nosta
  • DIT Iran cordially invites you to a webinar on Iranian Healthcare & Pharmaceutical sectors on Wednesday 11th November from 11:00am-12:00pm GMT – please email dit.iran@fcdo.gov.uk for further information.
  • The BBC has an interesting item on Fighting Covid-19 in Afghanistan over the phone
  • DHACA has just been contacted by someone pursuing a Master’s In Digital Health at Bournemouth University. They are keen to work in a digital healthcare organisation as an intern (14 weeks), which is a mandatory requirement for the completion of their course. Anyone happy to take this forward, please contact Dr Unaiza Patel at unaiza83@gmail.com directly.

Huge thanks to Dr Nicholas Robinson and Prof Mike Short for pointing me to material I might otherwise have missed.

I do hope you can join us for the Preparing for 2021 webinar next Wednesday.
